Exterior Inspection

Per the State Standards of Practice for an exterior inspection, we visually inspect exterior wall coverings (vinyl siding, brick, etc…), flashings and trim.  We also inspect attached decks, balconies, porches, steps, stoops, railings, walkways, patios and driveways, along with exterior doors.  We also look at the soffits, fascia and eaves, where accessible from the ground level.  In addition, we also visually inspect the grading around the home, vegetation, surface drainage, retaining walls and window wells.  We also look at garages and permanent carports.

After our visible inspection of the exterior of the home, we report our findings, describe the exterior features and may offer recommendations to address issues that we might find.

The State Standards of Practice indicate that we are not required to inspect seasonal accessories such as shutters, screens and awnings.  We also aren’t required to inspect fences or boundary walls or geological or soil conditions, or earth stabilization or erosion control measures.  In addition, we aren’t required to inspect outbuildings or barns, docks, seawalls, or recreational facilities like swimming pools, tennis courts, koi ponds, fountains, etc…
